His reward for working so hard was his very own library card. He was really excited about that, and even more excited when he found out he gets to use it over and over and over!
We used Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. Our lessons were supposed to put him at about a second grade reading level. He's pretty slow and doesn't try to read words he sees around very often, but he's got a good foundation for sounding words out. More importantly, I feel like I've learned some great techniques for teaching reading and I'm confident about the next steps we'll be taking to help his reading skills grow.
